About Weinrieb Law
26+ combined years of focused, skilled representation for Western New York families
Our Firm
Founded in 2011 by Pieter G. Weinrieb, Weinrieb Law has spent 26+ combined years serving families across Western New York through divorce, custody, and family law matters. Located in Williamsville and serving all of Erie County and the surrounding region, we concentrate exclusively on family law. It is the only work we do.
That singular focus shapes everything about how we practice. When your attorney has handled thousands of family law cases — and nothing else — they have seen virtually every scenario the court can present. They know the local judges, the procedural rhythms of Erie County Family Court and Supreme Court, and the practical realities that affect outcomes. That knowledge is not available elsewhere.
Our Attorneys
Weinrieb Law is a two-attorney firm. Pieter G. Weinrieb is the founding attorney and a 42-hour certified family and divorce mediator with over 20 years of family law experience. He is admitted in New York and Connecticut, serves on the Attorney for the Child panels in Erie and Niagara Counties. He has been featured in the Buffalo News and received the Avvo Client’s Choice Award.
Katrina M. Loss focuses her practice on child custody and visitation, family offense, child support, and paternity. A graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Law with a concentration in family law, Katrina served as a student attorney in the Family Violence and Women’s Rights Clinic during law school, gaining direct experience representing domestic violence victims in custody and family offense proceedings before her admission to the bar. She serves on the Attorney for the Child panel in Erie County and is a member of Women Lawyers of Western New York.
What Sets Us Apart
Family law is all we do. Every case we take involves family law. This singular focus means our knowledge is deep rather than broad, and clients receive the benefit of attorneys who have seen virtually every scenario that arises in family court.
Litigation and mediation under one roof. Pieter is both a seasoned litigator and a certified mediator. When you work with Weinrieb Law, you have access to both paths — and an attorney who can honestly evaluate which is more likely to serve your interests, rather than defaulting to the more expensive approach.
Psychology and human behavior inform our legal strategy. Pieter’s academic background in English and the humanities, combined with Katrina’s clinical training in domestic violence and family dynamics, means our attorneys understand people — not just law. In family court, how a case is perceived matters as much as the legal arguments. We prepare clients accordingly.
A genuine two-attorney team. Unlike many small firms where one attorney handles everything and support staff covers the gaps, Weinrieb Law operates as a true team. Our clients benefit from two licensed attorneys who communicate, collaborate, and bring complementary expertise to their cases.
Direct, honest communication. We tell clients what we honestly believe about their case — including the difficult parts. Decisions made on accurate information produce better outcomes than decisions made on wishful thinking. Our clients are adults facing difficult situations, and they deserve to be treated accordingly.
